Episode 1: May you live in Istanbul times
"I did not pee in the bidet."
Matt and Robin kick off their first podcast by talking about what it's like to be in Istanbul, Turkey, as a foreigner during a crisis event. Matt has just returned from a trip to Azerbaijan and Turkey, and spent a week in Istanbul during the protests in Taksim that sparked nationwide unrest after a police crackdown. When Robin was in Istanbul, it was only a few days after an earthquake leveled most of Istanbul's outlying suburbs. The two sit down for a conversation about America, Turkey, politics, protest, and being a tourist in one of Europe's most fascinating cities during a time when tourism isn't exactly encouraged.
Note: Matt insisted that the music took away from the conversation. And has filed an official protest that the webpage say as much.
